Minister of Planning and Investment Souphan Keomixay told a government meeting on the promotion of private investment on Friday that over the past two years 120 private investment projects have been recorded with a combined capital of 7.5 billion US dollars.

In practice, only 4.8 US dollars of the pledged capital have been spent on the implementation of these projects or 2.4 billion US dollars annually over a period of almost two years.

Over recent years, the central and provincial authorities have made significate efforts in attracting domestic and foreign private investment to contribute to ensuring the socio-economic development through 2020.

The plenary meeting of the National Investment Promotion and Management Committee, also attended by representatives of provinces and Vientiane Capital, was held for the first time on Sep 22 in Vientiane Capital to discuss the investment environment of domestic and foreign private sectors.
