LaoStar Channel's Sabaidee Muong Lao visits makers of bylan paper manuscripts and a decorative lacquer ware bowls studio, in Luangprabang. Video clip is in Lao language.
The pictures shown here are borrowed from Laomanuscripts.net and it
shows a step by step process of how bylan (palm leaf) is made. If you've never seen it before, it's quite interesting! Bylan can last for decades and centuries if well stored and taken care of.

Found a few resources for looking up Pali words. There's books you can buy on this as well but the convenience of an online search database is great too. There's a lot of Lao words that were originally sourced from Pali. Though they've been changed and often are shortened in Lao language today. So if you have an interest in learning where certain Lao words come from and what they mean, it'll be good to keep these links in mind.
Lao Palm Leaf Manuscripts - digitized and online! Isn't it ironic that the oldest documents in Laos are now modernized and digitally accessible when many modern Lao literature still is not?
