Luangprabang Night Market - Art Finds!

Of course you can't go to LP without strolling through the evening or night market that opens up on the main street.  I couldn't resist what I was seeing so I bought a couple of paintings. Have a look.  Hope you like them as much as I do.

Muang Lao by Jew Amornrat

Beautiful video, nice costumes and dancers, impeccable locations (all located in Laos of course), and a fun song that also explains the different provinces of Laos.  What more could one ask for? For those new to Laos, consider this your introduction to Laos through music.  Enjoy!

P.S. The captions are in Thai and English.

Huk Aum Lum - Lao Romantic Comedy

A Lao romantic comedy that was released back on November 17 2012 by Hemon Studio and Lao New Wave Cinema Productions.  Just posting it here in case some people may not have seen it.  Just like any other comedy it can be a bit cheesey at times however this movie made me laugh out loud several times.  It is funny and fun to watch.

Corner of Zen

This is totally real and random.  One morning I came out of the bathroom and this is what I saw.  I had unintentionally left the blinds open on the other side of the room the evening before.  What I found the morning after was the sunlight shining right on to my Buddha statue in a corner of my living room I lovingly refer to as my corner of zen.

Lao Artist Profile: Mr. Mankhone

Mankhone is a young, Lao artist, based in his hometown of Luangprabang.  He does these amazing paintings on sometimes large pieces or small tiles of tree bark or solid wood eggs.  I saw them for the first time while visiting Luangprabang in December 2013.

Russian Restaurant in Vientiane

This was a random sighting while motorbiking through downtown Vientiane. I found this lone, single Russian restaurant which seemed somewhat out of place.  I kept wondering to myself are there even enough people around who'd be interested to eat here?  Perhaps there are.  I didn't get a chance to try the food but thought I'd post this for our roosky tourists to Vientiane who might be interested.
