More Background on Us

Laoconnection.com originally began in August 1998.  It was a big site that included all facets of Lao culture, people and issues.  It included original in-house created graphics, language resources, translation, popular and insightful advice column, information on art, Lao PDR, economic details, and so much more.

For previous visitors of our old site, you'll now notice a completely different and renovated look to Laoconnection.com.  It is now in a new blog format as of April 2012.  With this new change, comes a new look and feel, new content and graphics, and new format.  Additionally, we've chosen to focus on key areas namely Lao literature reviews, Lao language, Lao food, Lao entertainment and news.

While the site remains under the same management, we're definitely aiming to go for quite a different look from what the site was before.  We hope you'll enjoy our new site and we look forward to hearing from you!

  1. hello. I need to know how you would spell the word "Her" in Laotian. The word is a last name and not referring to "her/him or she/he". It is for a tattoo. Thanks

  2. This doesn't give much background on you at all. Who are you? How are you an authority on this subject?

    1. An authority? I don’t think we claim that. Though that makes a great nickname, “The Authority” I like it!

All kidding aside, to address your question: Indeed we know quite a bit on the topic of Laos and Lao culture but certainly do not claim to be an “authority” on it. If you follow us on this site, you’ll know that a lot is covered and when there’s a mistake made and a correction needed we will openly admit it and make the change. We also say that we too are constantly learning new things about Lao related topics.

Ultimately, our hope is that people enjoy and learn from what is shared on here. So we’ll let our website and posts speak for themselves. Whether our visitors perceive us to be an authority is really up to our visitors but we do not claim to be as such.

      Signing off,
The Authority...wait, we mean Laoconnection.com Team!
