If you've never heard this song before, get into it.

It's an old song made anew by this young Lao musical group Tingnoinoi and sung by one of their lead singers.

In Laos, it's quite common to have songs created praising the beauty of different provinces, cities or villages.  If translated into English you would think they were love songs.  

And indeed they are love songs but not to a person, rather to the land and/or to the people who inhabit the land.  It's an interesting facet of Lao traditional oral music.

In this case, it's all about Xiengkhouang, one of Laos' northern provinces.
