Lao Art Week 2025

For the past 3 years, Vientiane has hosted the Lao Art Week event and each year it continues to grow.  This year it ran from October 10-19, 2025 and featured artwork by more than 100 artists across 12 different venues.

It's an event that's helping to shine light on the talents of Lao artists and their beautiful creations.

Below is the list of locations and activities that were held as part of this amazing event.

I:cat Gallery (Rue Dongpayna in Ban Phounthan-Neua)

Artists Souphalak Phongsavath and Lydia Ebdon-Borde at I:Cat Gallery showcased a collection of distinctive and thought-provoking artworks.

Lao National Museum

Showcased works by Lao national artists alongside textiles and heritage pieces that reflect the rich cultural legacy of Laos.

Lao Textile Museum - Art of indigo dyeing (in Ban Nongtha-Tai)

Experience the beauty of Lao indigo dyeing in this hands-on workshop by the Lao Textile Museum. This activity featured the chance to learn the traditional tie-dye process, from folding and binding to dipping in natural indigo.  And opportunity to create your own unique piece of cotton sourced from local communities.

Mulberries Vientiane (Ban Phonthong)

Experience organic silk farming, weaving, and fair trade craftsmanship, where every thread tells a story of resilience, culture, and care. A chance to support local artisans, take home a piece of heritage, and be part of preserving Lao traditions for future generations.

Songs of Lao by Kenro Iza (at Chao Anou and Samsenthai Roads)

Renowned Japanese photographer Kenro Izu, celebrated for his platinum-palladium prints of sacred places around the world, presents "Songs of Lao" - a collection of images capturing the beauty and spirit of Laos.

My Hometown Festival (11 Khouvieng Road)

This exhibition celebrates the diverse stories and traditions of hometown festivals across Laos. Featuring artworks and writings contributed by people from every corner of the country, it captures the spirit of local celebration and community pride.

The Five Scents of Laos (11 Khouvieng Road)

“The Five Senses of Laos” in partnership with Beerlao - a multisensory celebration where taste meets culture. This event combined food and art by invited participants to explore Lao identity through culinary tastes, aromas, textures, sounds, and visuals.

Parkson Mall (11 Khouvieng Road)

Discover art where you least expect it. From bold contemporary explorations to vibrant paintings, the mall transformed into a space of creativity and surprise - inviting everyone to pause, look, and experience Lao art in new ways.

Van Hai (SOS Street Photography in Laos at 128 Saylom Road)

This collective is designed to bring together photography enthusiasts and professionals to explore, practice, and showcase street photography in Laos.

La Porte Rouge ປະຕູແດງ (art studio at Nongbone and unnamed side street)

This exhibition at La Porte Rouge transforms the artist’s home into a living sculpture, where workshop and gallery meet. Visitors step into Michel Marcel Saada (Mimi)’s world of experimentation, surrounded by paintings that weave texture, shape, and silent narratives.

The Taste of Laos (Le Padaek restaurant)

The BeerLao Pairing Station, This interactive tasting journey not only highlights the depth of Lao gastronomy but also showcases the art of flavor pairing, inviting guests to savor the cultural connection between food and beer.

October 17-19

Art Market (Mahosot Rd and Rue del la Mission)

On the final 3 days, the Lao Art Week Art Market served as the vibrant hub for creativity and cultural exchange.  It presented an amazing opportunity for art lovers to buy some art pieces and also for artists to share their artistic journeys with the public through interactive workshops.
