New Pillar Shrine to be Consecrated in Vientiane

Vientiane Times reports that a new city Pillar Shrine will be consecrated on Setthathirath Rd. in Phiavat village, Sisattaknak district, November 15-17 2012.  Ceremony and celebration will include prayers lead by 99 monks from across the country as well as photos and artefacts exhibit, music performances and film screenings.  The location was chosen as the spot where hundreds of pillar fragments and other artefacts dating back from the 4th and 5th centuries were found.  Some high ranking officials will also be in attendance.
